Districts and clubs
Above individual cells sit districts, and above districts sits a city layer. The first is in the app. The second is a preview.
Districts
There are eight districts, with fixed names: North Loop, Glass Quarter, Signal Yard, Riverline, Pulse Market, Beacon Park, Volt Junction and Dawn Grid.
They are a flavour layer rather than places. Each cell you hold is assigned to one of the eight by its own identifier, so the grouping is stable and repeatable, and a district is not an area of your city. Nothing about a district reflects where you actually went. That is deliberate, and it is the same reason cells carry invented names rather than street names.
District status
A district takes its status from the cells inside it. A district with no cells is locked. One cell makes it emerging, two or more in good standing make it controlled, and a district holding cells that are at risk or dormant shows as needing attention.
The city view sorts your districts by which of them needs a visit most, so the app can answer the only question that matters on the way out of the door.
Mastery
Mastery is the long arc. Each district carries a score built from how much of it you control, how well defended those cells are, how consistently you have been moving, and how clean your recent GPS signal has been.
The score sorts a district into one of five bands: discovered, rising, fortified, and signature at the top, with locked for districts you have not reached. Getting to signature takes sustained holding rather than a single good week.
Clubs, as a preview
Clubs are a local preview. The club list in the app is seeded data. The rival figures are fixed numbers rather than other people's activity, and nothing syncs between players. Your own club figures are real, because they are built from your own stats.
The design is that joining a club pools the ground its members hold, and clubs then compete over districts across a season. The city view in the app shows the shape of that: a season board, district standing, and pressure on the districts you hold least well.
Making it real needs shared state between players, which is the next substantial piece of work. Until then the club layer is best read as a mockup you can walk around in. The roadmap puts it directly after the movement game.
